ZERO NET EMISSIONS – INGECAL: 2010 – 2023
Climate change is one of the most pressing challenges facing our world. Scientific assessments through the reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) have shown that many of the worst consequences of climate change can be avoided by limiting global warming to 1.5°C compared to pre-industrial temperatures.
Global temperatures already exceed pre-industrial levels by more than 1 °C, and the scenarios assessed by the IPCC indicate that limiting warming to 1.5 °C, while temporarily not exceeding the temperature or temporarily exceeding it in a limited way, requires achieving at least zero global net emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) by the early 2050s, along with deep and sustained reductions in emissions of other greenhouse gases (GHGs). These scenarios also show that the earlier and faster the emission reductions, the lower the peak warming and the lower the probability of exceeding the warming limits.
At INGECAL we have always been aware of the CO2 generated by our activities and in 2010 we started calculating our carbon footprint.
Calculation of emissions:
In Scope 1 we calculate emissions from company fleet vehicles.
In Scope 2 we calculate emissions from electricity consumption at our facilities.
In Scope 3 we calculate emissions from transportation of personnel to customers, from the management of our waste, from water consumption and electricity consumption in the facilities derived from teleworking, emissions from purchases of office supplies and upstream emissions from the electricity consumed.
Emissions evolution:
In the 14 years for which we have calculated our emissions, we have generated a total of 208 t CO2 eq. This represents a value of 0.8 t CO2 eq per 1,000 hours worked.
Emission offsets:
During the years 2023 and 2024 we have proceeded to offset all historical emissions generated in the period from 2010 to 2023, purchasing 205 credits for an amount of €2,120.
